I was lucky as the hotel was just recently refurbished and the room has got new finishings (new carpet and wallpaper) and the furnitures upgraded. I fell in love with the room the instant i opened the door! Likes: the spacious rooms, prompt and friendly service, wide variety of food in the buffet, delicious too, and a wide screen television.
Good for a quick weekend getaway!
Good points: 1. Delicious breakfast buffet with many varieties 2. Covered pool 3. Strategically located in the heart of shah alam 4. Clean, huge standard room
Anonymous I stayed at the Grand Bluewave for an international conference.
In most respects, it's unexceptional: entirely comfortable, well-run, nothing to complain about. There's nothing to rave about either.
The reception and lobby service was efficient and helpful. Always shining and clean and welcoming. The room, likewise, was neat and well-serviced each day. Conference facilities were also more than adequate.
Breakfast was a mixed affair: the main food was Malaysian in style, thought there were some western bread items on offer. One day, I spied some cereal, but that didn't seem on offer every day. The coffee there, and at the conference, was vile. A coffee shop on the other side of the lobby makes reasonably decent coffee.
The gym is a little disappointing: a few cardio machines, a shaky "multi-gym" and a few dumbells. The pool is a good place to cool off, but not somewhere you'd hang out for too long.
Shah Alam is quite a Muslim sort of place - don't expect to find beer in the hotel (there may have been some, but I didn't find it). A shopping centre two blocks away has various eating options, and a supermarket (which even sells some alcohol, if you need it!).
I'm not entirely sure why you'd stay at the Grand Bluewave if you didn't have business in the area: Shah Alam doesn't seem like much of a tourist area, and the journey into KL, though easy enough, takes a while.
Anonymous The hotel is suitable for my business meeting.
very clean, comfortable & spacious room. professional staff. excellent facilities.
My meeting runs smoothly.
Highly recommended for business meeting or comfortable sleeping, but the price is quite high though ;-)
